Children develop quickly in the early years, and early years practitioners aim to do all they can to help children have the best possible start in life. Children have a right to provision which enables them to develop their personalities, talents and abilities irrespective of ethnicity, culture or religion, home language, family background, learning difficulties, disabilities or gender.

At Holy Trinity we provide the children with a wide range of opportunities to learn through their play using authentic resources to develop their natural inquisitiveness and sense of curiosity. The four themes below are the foundation of the EYFS Curriculum and are embed into our practice to nurture each child.

We value and respect all children and their families and will work with to ensure that we can support your child to develop a positive sense of their own identity and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured as the start their journey through school.

Positive Relationships

Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships. We create a safe, stimulating and supportive environment that enables us to respond to each child’s needs, feelings, interests and developing independence as well as setting clear boundaries for all of the children to follow.

Enabling Environments

We use both our and outdoor environments to provide rich learning opportunities through play playful teaching. The children have access to authentic materials and are taught how to handle them safely and responsibly. The use of these materials stimulates their curiosity and supports children as they explore and learn to take risks.

At the end of your child’s time in EYFS, we will report on their progress towards meeting the Early Learning Goals within the 7 Areas of Learning and each child’s progress will be recorded in their Learning Journey. The Learning Journey will

Celebrate the child’s achievements
Monitor the skills that the child is developing
Enable staff to plan effectively in order to meet the child’s learning needs and ensure support and challenge is provided
Show the child’s progress
Record the child’s viewpoints
Highlight the discoveries the child make
Create a wonderful reminder of their experiences in EYFS
