Year Four

Class teacher Mrs Young

Support staff: Miss Beeks

Welcome to Year 4!

Year 4 is an exciting year filled with new challenges, discoveries, and adventures in learning. Throughout the year, we explore many History adventures, beginning with the Romans and their impact on Britain, before traveling through the times of the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. In Science, we investigate numerous adventures from light and electricity to the human body and animal habitats. Our RE lessons encourage us to ask big questions about Christianity and Islam, helping us to understand different beliefs and traditions. As the year progresses, we develop our skills in reading, writing, and maths, becoming more confident and independent learners. We end the year with a Geography adventure, exploring mountains, rivers, and coasts. Year 4 is a fantastic year of curiosity, creativity, and discovery, preparing them for the next step into Year 5.

Please see the termly overviews to find out what your child will be learning each term.

Y4 Spring 2 Overview

of
Zoom:
Anglo-Saxon bread making!
To conclude our learning about this period in history, we baked our own Anglo-Saxon bread using a traditional simple recipe. We carefully measured the ingredients, mixed them together, and practised our kneading skills to shape the dough. Once baked, we enjoyed our delicious rolls dipped in honey, just as the Anglo-Saxons would have done in the past!

World Book Day
We had a fantastic time dressing up as book characters and sharing our favourite books with the class. Plus, we took part in our annual Read-a-thon, celebrating our love for reading together!
