Welcome to Year 6!

Year 6 is an important milestone as it marks the final year of primary school, preparing the children for the exciting transition to high school. This year is all about developing independence and taking ownership of learning, as children become more responsible for their progress and outcomes. It is a crucial time where we focus on refining the children’s academic skills, especially in preparation for SATs, which test their knowledge and readiness for the next step in their education.

In addition to academics, Year 6 pupils often take on leadership roles in the school, such as helping to organise and perform in the end-of-year show, allowing them to showcase their talents and demonstrate their growth. It’s a year of personal development, reflection, and looking forward to the new challenges and opportunities that high school will bring.

Please see the termly overviews to find out what your child will be learning each term.

R.E - Creation
In Year 6, we explored the story of creation from the Bible, focusing on the account in Genesis where God created the world in seven days. As part of our study, we collaborated on a class artwork to visually represent this process. Each student contributed to illustrating the key events of creation, such as the formation of light, the sky, land, seas, plants, animals, and finally, humanity.
